TEJ1OI Exploring Computer Technology, Grade 9, Open This computer-based course is an introduction to many of the Tech programs offered at GCI. Topics include: Graphics and animation; Tech Design challenges and 3D printing; Computer hardware; and Software/webpage design. |
TIJ1OI Exploring Technologies, Grade 9, Open Learn by doing in this hands-on program as you make projects in the Wood, Machine, and Auto shops. Take home finished projects out of wood and metal. Students will also perform work on small motors while learning automotive concepts.

TCJ2OI Construction Technology, Grade 10, Open Students build take-home wood projects and explore construction possibilities while learning more basic residential construction including framing, electrical, plumbing and more. This is a hands-on project based class that challenges students to create unique and creative projects.

TDJ2OI Technological Design Engineering, Grade 10, Open Learn how to design and engineer. Develop problem solving skills to plan, build and test prototypes or create models. Draw sketches, use computer aided design software, 3D print and use power tools to bring your idea concepts to life. This course is recommended for those pursuing the GCI Design Magnet Package.

TGJ2OI Communications Technology, Grade 10, Open This course introduces students to communications technology from a media perspective. Students will work in the areas of audio production, print, graphic communications, and interactive new media and animation. Students will create computer-based activities such as editing photos, working with audio, cartooning, developing animations, and designing logos and web pages. This course is recommended for those pursuing the GCI Design Magnet Package.

TMJ2OI Manufacturing Technology, Grade 10, Open Build metal projects while learning skills in machining, welding and sheet metal in this hands-on program in a well-equipped and modern shop. Students learn engineering concepts as well as programming computer controlled machines.

TTJ2OI Transportation Technology, Grade 10, Open This course introduces students to the service and maintenance of vehicles, aircraft and/or watercraft. Students will develop knowledge and skills related to the construction and operation of vehicle/craft systems and learn maintenance and repair techniques.

TCJ3CI Construction Technology, Grade 11, College Build take-home wood projects and further explore construction careers and related trade possibilities while learning more about residential construction including framing, electrical, plumbing and more. Students are challenged to explore new woodshop skills building upon their existing knowledge and understandings.

TDJ3MI Technological Design- Engineering, Grade 11, University or College Explore vast opportunity in design and engineering. Research, design and build practical solutions that meet our everyday needs. Develop your visualizing, drawing and fabrication skills through practical, fun and challenging projects. This course is a part of the Design Magnet Package

TEJ3MI Computer Engineering Technology, Grade 11, University or College Ever wanted to see inside a hard drive or wire up a circuit? In this hardware-focused course, the topics include computer systems, networking, electronics, robotics and programming. Students will build systems that use custom-designed computer programs and interfaces like Arduinos to control external devices.

TFJ3CI Hospitality & Tourism, Grade 11, College Prerequisite: HFN1O/HFN2O recommended Wouldn’t it be great to have a job that is easily transferrable no matter where you live in the world? Topics covered in this course include the tourism industry, menu creation, customer service, career opportunities, event planning, and food preparation and presentation. Students can develop and refine their culinary skills during food labs. |

This is an excellent college level program for anyone thinking of college or a career in any metal related trade such as millwright or tool and die as well as students looking at entering an engineering field. TTJ3CI Transportation Technology, Grade 11, College This course enables students to develop technical knowledge and skills as they study, test, service and repair engines, electrical circuitry, suspensions, brakes and steering systems on vehicles and/or small-engine products. Students will develop communication and teamwork skills through practical tasks using a variety of tools and equipment. |
TCJ4CI Construction Technology, Grade 12, College Prerequisite: TCJ3CI Make unique wooden projects using a variety of different woods. Students explore furniture, cabinet making and construction in a well—equipped shop. This is an excellent college level program for anyone thinking of college or a career in any construction or furniture related trade such as a residential framer, cabinet maker or electrician as well as students looking at entering other trade related fields. This is a hands-on program. Learn by doing! |
TDA4MX Architecture – Technological Design, Grade 12, University or College This program introduces students to the fundamentals of design and presentation in the field of Architecture. Learn how planning is done using art and science, scale and drawings. Use industry software and techniques to develop projects and models in our full lab and shop. This course is part of the Design Magnet Package. |
TDJ4MI Technological Design, Engineering, Grade 12, University or College Prerequisite: TDJ3MI Create solutions to design challenges using the fundamental principles of design. Learn to communicate your innovations through drawing, model/prototype building and through computer applications including 3D software. TTJ4CI Transportation Technology, Grade 12, College Prerequisite: TTJ3CI recommended This course enables students to further develop technical knowledge and skills as they study, test, service and repair engine management systems, powertrains, steering controls, suspensions, brakes and body systems on vehicles and/or small –engine products. Students will refine communication and teamwork skills through practical tasks, using a variety of tools and equipment. Students will expand their awareness of environmental and societal issues related to transportation and their knowledge of apprenticeship and college programs leading to careers in the transportation industry. |
