Traffic and Travel Safety at GCI

We wanted to take a moment to remind families that the turnaround on Dando is designated for school buses, accessible vans, and school taxis. These vehicles rely on clear access in order to safely pick up and drop off students.

To help ensure student safety, families are asked not to stop or park near the turnaround or in posted no-parking zones on Dando, even briefly. Stopping in these areas blocks school vehicles and can create unsafe conditions for students.

If you are driving your child to or from school, please park in permitted areas nearby and allow school transportation vehicles the right of way.

Additional information about traffic and safe travel to school can be found in the Traffic and Travel Safety information sheet

Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe and ensuring that school transportation can run smoothly for the students who rely on it.

Assessment and Evaluation Day on Wednesday, April 15th

Dear Galt students and families,

Please be reminded that Wednesday, April 15th is an Assessment and Evaluation support day.

This day is Ministry mandated, intending to support half-credit course delivery and completion, as well as to provide Assessment and Evaluation opportunities in support of student success.

The majority of our students will not be required to attend in person; they will, instead, work from home to complete any outstanding assignments or evaluations. Prior to April 15th, classroom teachers will communicate course specific expectations for students to complete while at home.

The day specifically offers opportunities for classroom teachers to work with select students at credit rescue, assignment completion and/or to offer additional opportunities for students to demonstrate specific or overall curriculum expectations. Classroom teachers will directly connect with individual students (and families) who  require an in-person support opportunity. Attendance will be taken for students who need to attend in-person.

The daily timetable/schedule will mirror the regular school day schedule.

Transportation (buses, taxis, etc…) will operate as per the usual schedule.

Secondary Students in Congregated Classes and Alternative Education (ACE): Students in our ACE program will attend in-person on April 15th to ensure that they have the support needed to continue their learning.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or the Main Office.
