CO-OP
The co-op department offers 2-credit packages to all students. The two credits will be subject-specific. Students will still be able to choose either 1 or 2 additional in-school subjects during the semester that they take.Co-op is a requirement for the Specialist High Skills Major Program (SHSM) in Business, Information & Communication, and Sports.

COOPR2 Regular, Grade 11/12, Academic, Applied, Open Prerequisite: Course specific prerequisites may be required
This is a regular 2-credit package that offers students practical hands-on experience in the workplace. Experiences may be directly related to a specific subject area studied in class and therefore require the in-school prerequisite or may be community-service oriented and not require a prerequisite. Co-op opportunities exist in the morning or afternoon in either semester. A co-op application form must accompany the course selection sheet. The appropriate co-op teacher will determine specific course coding, placement opportunities and timetabling during a spring interview. Two credits will be granted if students fulfill the hourly requirements set out by the Ministry of Education. Students (18+) working in the vulnerable sector may require a police check prior to their placements. Students in health care related placements may be required to get a 2-step TB skin test. OYAPT4 Technical, Grade 12, Academic, Applied, Open Prerequisite: Accepted to OYAP program
This is a 4-credit co-op course taken in the second year of the OYAP (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program) program. Galt Collegiate offers apprenticeship opportunities in General Machinist, Mould Maker, Tool and Die Maker, Pattern Maker, Machine Tool Builder Integrator, Industrial Mechanic, Millwright Welder Fitter, and the Automotive Service Sector. An application form and interview are required.
