It is with great sadness that we share news of the tragic passing of GCI student Katharine Janke.  Katie was a grade 11 student who came to GCI last year from St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School.

Along with our Guidance Counsellors and Administrators, members of the Board’s Critical Events Response Team have been consulted to support our students and staff.

If you feel your child may have been impacted by Katie’s death, please do not hesitate to reach out to GCI so that we can check in with them and offer support.

The flags in front of GCI and at the Education Centre will be flown at half-mast for the week in memory of Katie.
