GCI Extra-Curricular Music Groups
The choir is open to all students of GCI from any grade, and does not require an audition. Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:45 in room 318. The choir performs at both Winter and Spring Concerts, as well as feeder school concerts and other functions at GCI, such as Remembrance Day. If you want to sing, but don’t like auditioning, this is the group for you!
The Chamber Choir rehearses on Wednesdays during the FIRST HALF of lunch (11:18am) and some Mondays after school in room 318. Vocalists interested in singing a wide variety of more challenging music are invited to participate in this group, with no audition required. Performances include: Remembrance Day assembly, Winter and Spring Concerts, and feeder school concerts.
The Concert Band rehearses every Monday and Thursday at 11:45 in room 212. It is a group made up of experienced grade 10, 11 and 12 students. Here are some of the performances planned for this year: Commencement, Winter Concert, feeder school concerts, Grade 8 night, Spring Concert.
This group rehearses every Wednesday at 11:45 in room 212. Students who enjoy performing swing, rock and other jazz styles are welcome to come out. In addition to the Winter and Spring Concerts, the Jazz Band plays feeder school and community concerts.
This group is a student-led ensemble that focuses primarily on pop music. The group rehearses every Thursday at 11:18 in room 318. This ensemble performs at the Holiday Assembly and Arts Evening.
