Scholarship and Bursary General Information
How to increase your chances of winning a scholarship and/or bursary:
1. Complete the GCI Scholarship & Busaries Application
This information will be used to help GCI staff when selecting commencement award winners.
2. Check out the following resources/websites:
- Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
- Canada Student Grants
- WRDSB Awards
- Specific post-secondary institution websites and financial assistance pages
- Parents place of employment may offer scholarships to children of employees
3. Get the latest updates on any scholarship/bursaries that we receive information about.
Visit the Grade 12 Google Group for posts as well as the Scholarship Board outside
of the Guidance office.
Advice:
- Students should create a resume about themselves to be used for reference letters or essays
- Try to give teachers/employers etc. at least 2 weeks notice when requesting reference letters
- Pay attention to dates and deadlines
- Keep a file of all reference letters and applications
