Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT): Information for Student Writers

On Thursday, November 5, 2026 all previously eligible and identified grade 11 or 12 students who still need to write, will participate in writing the OSSLT to fulfill their Literacy Graduation Requirement. As an alternative for some grade 11 and 12 students, the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC) may also be an option to fulfill this requirement.

On Tuesday, November 10, 2026 identified MLL students in grade 11 or 12 who are eligible to write will participate in the OSSLT.

When and Where:

Students MUST write this test under the supervision of a teacher or other staff member. The tests will be administered in the library or learning resource centre. Those writing in the LRC have been notified.

– Each online OSSLT booklet is a minimum of 60 minutes plus onboarding, surveys, and extra time.
– Booklet 1 8:10-9:10
– Booklet 2 9:15-10:15

Extra time will be provided for those who need it. The maximum amount of time for each booklet is 2 hours.
