The Ontario Literacy Test (OSSLT) – Tuesday April 10th, 2018
On Tuesday April 10th, grade 10 and other eligible senior students will write the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test. Those expected to write the test will be notified and receive specific information from the school either by mail or from a homeroom teacher after the March break.
The administration of the test has implications for all GCI students, even those not writing the test:
• Regular attendance reporting procedures will remain in effect on April 10th. Any student who is absent will be marked absent. Test writers who are absent will have to wait until the spring of 2019 to write the test.
• Students not writing the test will only have access to the cafeteria and for the purpose of quiet, independent study. There will be no regular classroom instruction. In the afternoon, from 12:45-2:25 pm, teachers not involved in the administration of the test will be available to provide remedial assistance to all students.
• Ms. McCoy’s Life Skills students are expected to attend as they normally do.
Parents and students are encouraged to download the GCI Parent Information Parent Information Sheet, and visit www.EQAO.com for more information and resources that can be used at home, and https://sites.google.com/googleapps.wrdsb.ca/ossltprep for sample instructions and practice questions.
