On Tuesday, November 19th, in order to complete the Literacy graduation requirement, eligible Grade 11, 12 & ESLEOI students will participate in GCI’s fall 2024 writing session of the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).

Students in grade 10, who will be writing the OSSLT for the first time, will do so in Spring, 2025.

Students who are required to write the test will receive an email with additional details.

The Literacy Test, administered by Ontario’s Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO), is used to determine whether a student has the literacy (reading and writing) skills that are required to meet the standard for understanding reading selections and communicating in a variety of written forms expected by The Ontario Curriculum across all subjects up to the end of Grade 9. The successful completion of this test or the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course is a requirement for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
