The Waterloo Region Vaccine Task Force is working to make sure that our youth can be safe to learn for September 2021.

Vaccine

Who can get the vaccine now?

Youth who are 12-17 years old in Waterloo Region and their family members who live in the same house can pre-register for a COVID-19 vaccination to get their first dose appointments between June 7 and June 20.

  • Youth must be 12 years old by the time of their appointment.
  • We expect that youth will be able to get both their first and second dose for full vaccination before the 2021/22 school year.
  • Family members may have to wait the regular time between their first and second dose unless they are part of another eligible priority group.

What vaccine will youth get?

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is approved by Health Canada for anyone 12 years of age and older.

Get vaccinated if you are eligible

The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) encourages all who can to pre-register to receive their vaccine from Region of Waterloo Public Health. This is an important opportunity to prioritize the health of all in our community.

We are asking anyone who is eligible, including education workers, to make sure they are pre-registered on the Region of Waterloo Public Health website.
