On Wednesday March 27th, grade 10 and other eligible senior students will write the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test General Parent Letter OSSLT 2019. Before the March Break, those expected to write the test will be notified and receive specific information from the school including an information letter for parents and guardians.

The administration of the test has implications for all GCI students, even those not writing the test. On March 27th,

  • school busses will operate as they normally do.
  • regular attendance reporting procedures will remain in effect.  Any student who is absent will be marked absent. Test writers who are absent will have to wait until the spring of 2020 to write the test.
  • students not writing the test will only have access to the cafeteria and for the purpose of quiet, independent study. There will not be any regular classroom instruction. From 12:45 pm-2:25 pm, teachers not involved in the administration of the test will be available to provide remedial assistance to all students;
  • Life Skills students are expected to attend as they normally do.
