First Day of School: September 4, 2018

Each year, we use a modified timetable on the first day of school. To support Grade 9 students on their
first day of high school, Grade 9 students will arrive at 9:00 for an assembly, before our Grade 10, 11 and
12 students, who will begin classes at 10:00 a.m. The schedule for opening day is:

9:00 – 10:00 Grade 9 Assembly in Tassie Hall, followed by homeroom
10:00 – 10:31 A Block (all grades)
10:38 – 11:08 B Block – Grade 10 & 11 Assembly; Grade 9 and 12 in class
11:15 – 11:45 B Block – Grade 12 Assembly, Grade 9, 10, and 11 in class
11:52 – 12:22 C Block (all grades); Chromebooks Distributed to Grade 9 students (A to G)
12:22 – 1:22 Lunch
1:22 – 1:50 D Block (all grades); Chromebooks Distributed to Grade 9 students (H to N)
1:57 – 2:25 E Block (all grades); Chromebooks Distributed to Grade 9 students (O to Z)

On the first day of school, students locate their homerooms by checking the alphabetical lists posted
outside Tassie Hall, the library, and the cafeteria. Busses will run at their regular times starting on
September 4th. There will be limited cafeteria service on the first day; full cafeteria service will begin on September 5th.

Ice Cream Morning

On Thursday, August 30th, all incoming Grade 9 students, and any other students who are new to GCI are invited to our “ice cream morning” from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  Please join us in Tassie Hall at 10:30 a.m. for a presentation from SHAC (student council), followed by orientation activities, followed by ice cream.
